Probably a silly question, but the gears on my commuter have begun to slip; usually when I'm taking off in one of the higher gears. Feels like the ratchet on the freewheel has worn and isn't gripping properly. general pedalling isn't a problem, only when I'm taking off from a stop. As my commuting bike, it does around 4500 miles a year in all weathers. :bicycle:I keep the drive train lubed and ( reasonably ) clean. The current cassette was put on nearly two years ago and it's on it's second chain.
So, new cassette & chain then - ?

Check it's the chain moving on the cassette and not the cassette spinning freely on the hub...
