I went to my local pool the other day as I was thinking about doing a bit of swimming in the evenings . £5

Multi-buy swim sessions or try a club. Costs less for me to swim with the local masters or tri club than to use the same pools in the open sessions and I also get coached sessions and technique work. I was getting nowhere on my own and with two to three club sessions a week I improved massively. I just wish I lived near the sea or an open water venue so I could go a few times a week and do proper 12 month open water swimming. I only get to a lake every couple of weeks and don't get to acclimatise to the water well enough so wear a wetsuit, gloves and boots through the winter.
