I simmer mine then butter 'em up & foil wrap them so, like yours, they just need heating up on the BBQ.
There was an elderly guy in the kitchen at Bath YHA when I was there once, he was cooking a couple of cobs of corn in a dry pan, with no water. Everyone kept saying "Is that your dinner burning", and he'd peer in the pan and say "No, it's fine", and someone would say "I think it is".
Eventually he prized two nearly raw cobs with black bottoms off the pan, and served one to his lady friend and the other for himself. She didn't look very hungry for some reason. The last I saw of him, it was about 11pm, and he was still at the kitchen sink busy trying to chisel the carbon off the pan.
