Had my first off on my new bike today, was looking down to replace my water bottle and low and behold when I looked back up I was veering towards the curb, didn't have time to change my course so down I went. A few bumps and scrapes, sore shoulder, grazed knee and elbow but I'll live. More importantly I scratched my new carbon wheels, gutted, they look like surface scratches so hopefully they will polish out.
Just want to say a big thanks to the guy from Chester road club who stopped to see if I was ok and made sure I was steady before I completed my journey home.
The worst bit about it was the fact I only had 5km to go after completing 65Km. Never mind, more concentration required I think.

not in those circumstances anyway
And anyway if you do polish them out you'll do it again a week later - I got a big stone chip on my new (to me) car windscreen. After fretting about it for days I decided I was just gonna have to get over it and put up with it. Next time out in the car I got another one - I was sooo glad I hadn't bothered getting it replaced
