Got a bike carrier from someone so set it up, got the bike on the back, made sure I had everything then headed up to Carron Valley as there's nice scenery up there.

Got the bike off and shoes on then realised the front tyre was totally flat (checked it before I left).

Pumped it up to 30 PSI with hand pump (what a mission that was) then about to go when I realised the air was coming back out the valve. I did have another tube, but the thought of changing it over then going through the hand pump saga again made me put my bike back on the carrier and head back down the road.

"Nice cycle darling?"

"Aye, awesome "

Nightmare. I use the bike rack a lot, but touch wood and all that.

If you're having a problem getting enough pressure in a reasonable time, get a pump which performs better (for the tyres you're running).
And take a track pump in the car with you, anyway.
But I sympathise. You've got from bed to shed to car, but just not away from the car. For a (completely) different set of reasons (not to do with equipment failure), the same story for me today.

Pity about the wasted journey.
topeak do a few small pumps that will get you up to 100 psi without much fuss.
