Toothache with no cause ?

If it is tooth related and not sinus, then clove bud oil is absolute magic. Just rub a tiny on the painful tooth

Or just chew on / suck a clove. I always have whole cloves in the kitchen.

There might be many explanations, but isn't heart issues (which the OP has had diagnosed in last ~12 months) a possibility?

In the land of Google yes. Jaw pain can be a form of angina. However jaw tooth pain alone is highly unlikely to be cardiac related.

It seems to be easing with anti biotics - but obviously that's not getting at the root cause.

Not toothache, but I had a sensitive tooth that made me jump a mile every time I bit on it. I kept telling the dentist, and he kept telling me there was nowt wrong with it, but after a few years I got so fed up with it I decided to tell him to take it out anyway.

Then one day just before my next check up a large fragment broke off it as I was chewing, and the pain stopped instantly. If it had waited another month or so to break I wouldn't still have the tooth now.
