I am not touchy feely person. I am ok, but not enthusiastic if a woman (I don't know) is involved, but any manly contact is a no-no. I don't like people who shake my hand but then refuse to let go whilst they talk to me, I am not listening, I just want all physical contact to be over, asap. As for the bloke who recently did the above, whilst simultaneously holding my other side bicep with his "free" hand, seconds more and I'd have done time.....

I'm not keen on blokes who stand really close when they talk to you. Never had a woman do that, but one bloke I knew and worked with just had a habit of standing right in front of anyone he was talking to. I mean so close I had trouble focusing.
Very disconcerting.

It's a good job some of you don't live in France.

I have a French colleague and our professional relationship is physical and had included me threatening to push her under a tube train, her being hysterical and throwing stuff around while accusing me of telling her to 'go forth and procreate'. Her gripping various parts of my anatomy while telling me about her activities over the holidays and her strained relationship with her mother and the like. Folk not in the know find her intimidating and think that there's something 'going on' between us.

I'm too scared to even imagine the possibility of something 'going on.' I get an adrenaline rush from our professional disagreements. I couldn't countenance the notion of being romantically involved with her. I think that I'd find Scotch Bonnet chilli pepper enemas more bearable than her being my paramour.

And why is it that no matter how far you back off they end up chasing you around, in conversation, trying to maintain that proximity of contact.:cursing:

I'm afraid you wouldn't get very far if you had my current medical predicament, male doctors and surgeons everywhere and you'd be waiting a very long time for only ladies to treat you

Both yours and his behaviours just doesn't compute with me, I mean I would never think of doing what he did, but what are you SO scared of? That he's about to turn you round and bum you on the spot?

Seriously, what exactly are you all so scared of?

I ask again, what are you so scared of?? Why is this such a hard question to answer?

I wouldn't say I was scared of someone who came too close, I'd just feel uncomfortable. Like feeling cold - not scary, just not pleasant. We all have different tolerances to cold, and to proximity.

Maybe, but I was asking about the original 'man' statement, I mean, what is going to happen exactly??

I hate air kissing, that nearly touching lips on the cheek thing, especially with people I've only met once or twice, but I don't even like it that much with my family. My sister does it all the time, make cringe so it does, and its a waste of time. Whats wrong with a hello, or a goodbye?
