Hmm, I thought the Giro was supposed to have been barely more than a training ride for him? He seems to say something similar to this every year. It’s a bit strange to say they over-estimated the climb when he couldn’t follow. I guess we’ll see tomorrow though.

How can it be overestimated? Surely someone goes and looks at it or at least looks in the road book and compares it to others. No good blaming the Giro. He wanted to do it. Has done 4 x GT in the last year.

Weird that anyone thinks he's blaming anything rather than just explaining what didn't work. Also weird that nobody thinks he can beat Pog but everyone wants him to try in order to make a race of it then everyone piles in on what a failure he is when he tries something and it doesn't work. Make your minds up people.

Anyway, he's got a chance on a longer, harder climb today so let's see how that goes. Personally I think Pog goes solo on the short but brutal Cat 1to force Vingegaard to chase (nobody else will) and then get mugged on the final climb. Visma need to make sure they get someone up the road for the very long section between the two climbs or it won't matter how long and hard the finale is

I suspect UAE would be content to let a break go to the finish today but if Visma try this (which, as you say, they surely must), I fear any break is going to be doomed.

I am absolutely seething. I've literally never heard of this before (the only late night door-knocking by authorities I recall was the French police in '98). None of the Danish ex-riders on coms had ever heard of it before. Absolutely shocking.

It's a long way and UAE are weakening at the back end of every stage now plus they want to keep.fel.toro high on GC ,.. a break may make it but it needs a big gap at the base of that HC
