I'm happy to bring own helmet and gloves, just wasn't sure if you had to use certain types. Sounds like a fun experience.Shoes need to be your own - but there is no issue with trainers + clips and straps. You will always be starting/stopping from the inside rail anyway, so plenty of things to hold onto so you can tighten your straps up before you move off.
Also, you really don't want to be wearing a borrowed helmet/gloves. It's a bit like wearing someone else's pants. I would strongly suggest bringing your own.
