Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
Cedric Vasseur from Cofidis to the dole queue.

Sounds like the football manager getting fired a week before the end of a relegation doomed season in the hope of achieving a new manager bounce.
Aye, but there's only 200 points in it, so it might work. More at Vasseur Sacked

Movistar Team secures the future with the signing of Cian Uijtdebroeks through 2029

I initially thought that sounded like an odd move, however he's shaping into a GC contender, so opportunities might be limited at JV I guess, and maybe he (And Movistar) feel he is ready to go for GC in one of the GTs.

The big question for me, is which other 2 riders do Movistar have that can ride against him / pull him back when he gets in a break etc?

Or will they now look to build an entire team around pulling him back / compromising his race instead?

“It is purely for sporting reasons,” Carera told Sporza. “We discussed with Visma how many champions they already have. Cian wants to ride big stage races with a key role, and in that team with so many leaders, it is not easy. If you want to grow every year, you must be given the opportunity to go for a general classification.”

Two weeks before the Worlds, the decision was made to search for a new environment. Movistar quickly emerged as the solution, with all parties agreeing on a deal before the championships. “The negotiations were not difficult,” Carera said. “Movistar believes Cian is one of the greatest talents, and Visma understood our position. The agreement was reached in a clean way.”

Why did he go to VLAB in the first place? He was showing signs of promise but he was never going to get much chance there with the squad they already had.

Looking at their GC roster 2 years ago, an ambitious Cian might have seen a path to becoming the 2nd strongest rider on the team. Since then Jorgensen has kicked on and they've imported a washed up Brit from a bunch of Aussie also rans who's somehow taken a GT and probably holds the cards in asking for protection at next year's Vuelta (presuming Jonas aims for the Giro).

Well Roglic went the other way and Bora already had a Giro winner in Hindley, plus Sergio Higuita (Volta Catalunya, podiums at Suisse and Paris-Nice), Maximilian Schachmann (Paris-Nice *2) and were also signing Daniel Felipe Martínez from Ineos and had Florian Lipowitz (who'd won the Czech Tour already by then) as an up-and-coming rider, so chances weren't guaranteed at Bora either.

I suspect seeing Visma put three riders on the top step of three GTs in '23 might have had something to do with it - their level of organisation and equipment was way ahead of Bora at the the time, so he probably thought there would be a good chance of developing as a rider, in which case he'd be in with a good shout.
