What's the form here? Can a billionaire just buy a few bikes and strip the branding off them? I'm assuming an actual sponsorship/partnership isn't strictly necessary.

They've currently only got 18 riders listed for next season, so they might not need all that many....

Peanuts to a billionaire, but quite a big addition to the budget? (10k x18 x5 ?? bikes (racing, training, TT) - heading towards a million maybe

The challenge is the frames need to be UCI-approved and a manufacturer may be unwilling to sell them to the team, leaving them without suitable bikes. I envisage a Saint Piran sticker issue ....

Three Trek Madones each, we can sort out the TT bikes later, yeah?

As long as they are UCI legal I don't see why not. Remember that fuss about a Conti team with forged UCI stickers. I forget their name.

Edit St Piran. Thank you @DCLane.

Ayuso > Lidl-Trek for 5 years

An interesting one this - the UAE rebel who seemingly refused to work for others, going to Mads P's team, where everyone puts in their shift for the team, like they were ... errr ... eight musketeers? Personally I think Ayuso's rep is probably a little unfair - he's still only 22 and some of it was earned a couple of years ago. In the Vuelta he was criticised for racing for himself while Vine and Soler apparently had free rein to do what the pleased (and won stages and the KoM with it)

Harry Hudson -> Lidl-Trek Future Racing
The lad's got a bright future I think

I've seen him racing locally. He lapped the field despite the chase pack containing some top riders.

Mattias Skjelmose isn't convinced: “If Ayuso finds it difficult to ride for Tadej Pogacar at UAE, then I don't know if he'll want to help me at all when it comes down to it.”
