There have been proper 4wd versions of many generations of Transit, though I don't think they sold many outside of fleets to power companies etc. Theres a 4x4 Sprinter too.

We have a couple of lifted 4x4 Transits at work, specialist work bit of kit. Recently the fad in campers has been to lift and put bars etc on them, horrid IMHO, I prefer my lowered and clean.
