I found a foolproof solution to that problem - not owning an iron!

I find it is best not to complain, otherwise I might end up having to do my own ironing.

Our Nowtv broadband started playing up yesterday, dropping connection, but coming back pretty quickly.

It then dropped 1730ish today and hasn't come back.🤬

Swapped micro filter, checked cables, rebooted router and unplugged router for a while. No joy.

A prepaid 25GB Three data only SIM isn't going to go very far and no idea how much left anyway (generally only used for live tracking when I'm cycling in the sticks).

Think I'm more annoyed because I was planning on cycling this evening before it went dark, but got sidetracked by this outage.

People, and I've had this this morning, who ask your opinion on something because they don't have the answer...and then refute the answer you proffer , and it's just a theory and you explain that, because at the end of the day...you don't know yourself and probably never will...but you find yourself being corrected or rebutted....so my answer is always the same..

I have no idea mate, no idea at all, it could be anything, anything I offer is jist a guess.

I ferkin hate getting dragged into convos I have little interest in, then find yourself actually trying to defend your idea...on something you'd rather not bother discussing anyway...

I've dealt with people like that. I find it's often because they want me to agree with them on something. When they argue I generally ask them why they asked me in the first place as they have their own opinion, so they can act on it as they see fit.

"How to win friends and influence people" would have been a very short book if I'd written it.

This. If you don't want my opinion and/or advice, don't ask for it.

Edit - PS, I do not offer unsolicited advice. I hate those people.

Using words that are excessive and not the right one for this context

for example
This evening we went to a local pub for tea (dinner)
the manager is a lovely lady but rather over enthusiastic for my taste

she does tend to use extreme words to say things

so when we said we thought the meal was lovely her response was
"AMAZING"

err -no

amazing is something that has amazed you
i.e. it was unexpected

and if you find customers saying the food is nice is unexpected then something is wrong with that place

which is not at all what she meant

she was just using an extreme word for - and using the wrong one for the circumstances

which is annoying

correct use of the word would be when I picked my grandson up from school today
it was the first time I had done this from his new class so I went to the wrong room and so was a bit late
his teacher said he was so good for sitting still and quiet for all that time

not THAT was amazing - little b****r is always moving - normally running or falling - and never shuts up!!!

You’re lucky she didn’t say Super Amazing, as Super seems to be the new go-to qualifier
