In my fellwalking days, I used to eat in the Bank Tavern in Keswick. It used to get chokker with the tourist trade in summer, so the locals had a refuge from the grockles around a little table in the bay window just inside the door. One day when it was rammed, they called my dinner, and as I stood beer in one hand plate in the other, there were no seats available anywhere...except in the window bay. So I ate my dinner with half a dozen regulars sat in silence looking daggers at me.Today it was sat on 'my seat' as I walked in.
It irks me that they made A the best rating for appliances, so that as they got better they had no choice but to add A+, A++, A+++ etc. Eventually they redefined the whole system a couple of years ago, and what did they do: the same again. Lack of foresight or what! Why don't they just have 1 as the worst, then they can add 2, 3, 4, etc. indefinitely.Another trivial annoyance that isn't really trivial, seeing the little energy efficiency rating card thingummy that came with out last TV
The size of OS maps! Particularly the 1:25000 OL series..
Blasted things, at A0 (approx 47" x 33" (1189x841 mm)) are totally impractical (though excellent for the planning stage on the floor!) for using during a walk or ride.
My older Ordnance Survey maps are much more user friendly.
I know what you mean. But these days OS mapping is available electronically, not that I use them, I tend to know where I 'm going, but if headed somewhere I've not been paper mapping is bar the best.
Been travelling the highways & byways for over 45 yrs, so do have a good instinct for direction,, if I needed the map the always the trusty Landranger to use.
This happens far too often! I've just opened a tin of my mutt's favourite food, only to realise at that split second I pulled the ring pull opener back that I only opened a tin last night which is almost full!! 🧐 I now have two tins of opened dog food in my fridge!![]()

Just stick it in a stew or a pasty.
That strange thing when you've just tied your shoelaces and as soon as you set off to walk, become aware that one shoe is tighter than the other, what's that all about?

But you only need to open one fold at a time generally.
