Google restricting rows returned per page.

It used to be that you could set that in your settings, anything up to100.

then they took that away, and now it is only 10 results per page. You could get around that for any individual search by changing the "&num=10" in the url to "&num=100", but now in the last few days that has stopped working, and in fact causes much fewer results to be returned at all.

10 results is rarely enough, and while I can of course go to the next (and subsequent) page, I much prefer to see more results on one page.

forgot to mention that I was shouted at when riding my bike yesterday

I was going along a mainish road - single carrigeway

I remember there was some confusion ahead with a car truning roundand I slowed down and a skip lorry slowed down behind me
we got past the confusion bit and the skip lorry passed me

the a van behind (transit sort of sized) passed me
and as it passed I heard some words -

they passed and an arm was out of the passenger side window as the words continued

as ususal wind noise, type noise, engine noise and the doplar effect combined to make the words unintelligible

but there was a thumbs up out of the window

and it is possible that the first word was "nice"
and the last word was "Mate"
and the tone was positive

In the same vein, people who attempt to overtake a cyclist when there is an island in the middle of the road coming up and end up making a prat of themselves or nearly knocking off the cyclist.

there are a lot of islands on the main road leading to the grandkids house
and it is 20 mph

I have sometimes been overtaken (in my car but the concept applies) by going round the island on the other side of the road

simple really

not sure how they check for people coming out of the shops and crossing the road without looking "the wrong way" but I'm sure they do!!

I had an unexpected response from a van driver last week at the top of a very steep local hill...

That inner bend must be well over 30%. I fell off there one time when an impatient overtaking driver cut me up and forced me onto the cobbles! Fortunately, this time I had left it late enough that there was virtually no traffic up there. Except for a van that is... The driver of that had seen me coming up towards him and stopped up ahead before I got to the righthand bend that you can just see in that photo. The driver shouted words of encouragement to me as I passed him!

Yes - it makes a nice change!

What is it with the BBC and dinosaurs? I mean seriously. They seem obsessed with them be it the discovery of a new bone etc being reported on the main news or some AI generated series.

Perhaps some kids still like them(do they really?) but I'm afraid I find it all a bit boring.
