Trivial things that make you annoyed beyond expectations?

Ì try not to let things really irritate me, but recently in Totnes we parked our car in a council run public car park in the town centre, no mobile data anywhere near the car park to pay using an app, and the bloody machine only accepted cash In the end I had to go and buy a coffee and use their WiFi to pay for the parking. Took me about an hour to calm down

Apparently the solution is to go for a bike ride. Or not use car at all hence parking not required.

However, in the real world that's not always possible and I agree parking apps are a complete pain. Often no mobile signal or WiFi nearby, over complicated instructions on how to pay/ enter registration etc.

Why they don't just have a contactless pay option is the question.

Why they don't just have a contactless pay option is the question.

Because councils are not going to spend money on that sort of equipment to help us out. They would rather provide a sub-standard mechanism for payment and collect fines for those who struggle.

My worst example is (admittedly 10 years ago) outside Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. I had a hire car for work, the only option was a phone and pay system, the signal was so poor that the voice robot couldn't recognise the car registration that I was spelling out. I was then asked by the robot to describe the car make, model and colour. After 5 minutes of shouting out "BROWN, FORD, FIESTA", I gave up and went home

Many do nowadays.

The two I have used most recently (Wood Lane in Chippenham and Copr Bay in Swansea) both have options to pay by app or to just use contactless at the machine (or cash, or card in slot).

Can't say I've seen any with contactless payment. Certainly not widespread in my experience although i avoid paying for parking whenever possible.

Good for them. What's needed though is nationwide. Be far the most popular payment method certainly for sub £20 is contactless so councils and parking companies need to up their game

All those saying this or that carpark takes contactless is great if you happen to be in an area that has them. Most in my area don't.

FB adverts for either plug in heaters that, tbh, if (hahaha) the claims are true, heat a room in 3 minutes (im just throwing approximation here for illustrative.point) , cost 99% less than a conventional heating system to run and the unit only cost a mere (insert laughable low price here)...and similar claims with plug in cooling units.

It really irks me, how can they possibly claim this rubbish ?

What's needed though is nationwide.

I don’t think there’s national coordination of council car parks. Write to your council if you want them to change things.

That hardly helps any tourists does it unless you think everyone should plan ahead by checking out parking and then writing to relevant councils prior to travel.

exactly, I have reported ads featuring naked pregnant ladies, and also ads for newish cars being advertised for 6 grand which is obviously a scam, and been told they have been rejected as they don't break FB rules

True, but you were complaining about contactless not being avilable at car parks in your area, so not as a tourist.

You are right, of course, you writing to your local councils will not help when you are a tourist somewhere else, but except in beach or beauty spot car parks, most users tend to be fairly local, and not tourists.
