Few things are as satisfying as fitting and lighting a log burner I've discovered. The main one one the boat gets things very toasty indeed. Learning curve as so much of building this has been but just about done bar a few bits and bobs.

Being the only person to get off my train at our very rural station.

Also, watching the train pull away and disappear into the forest.

I put some bird seed and monkey nuts down in the cemetery for the birds and squirrels. I put about two thirds of a bag of monkey nuts down in the usual places. On going back 20 minutes later after walking my dog around the cemetery all the nuts had been taken by the squirrels!😉

The drainpipe on the extension at the back of my house kept getting blocked with moss that had washed down from the roof. I could reach it from a bedroom window so I tried pouring some caustic soda down it. The caustic soda just seeped out.

I then remembered that sugar makes liquids sticky so I added some to the caustic soda solution. It stuck to the blockage and dissolved it!

‘Kitchen chemistry’ indeed! Don’t get carried away, though - unexpected results can be hard to stop once started ;+)
