Preamble
I am an avid subscriber of Zwift, got me back into the saddle after a very bad fall so no complaints here. I do the ftp enhancer type workouts and find them very good for IRL type rides. I don't do races yet, fond them a bit daunting (I am 68years young) and enjoy my cycling.

Videos
I got inspired by "Cycling Climbs of Scotland" book and started to film my rides along with recording the gps tracks simultaneously. I needed a home for them so I subscribed to Kinomap. Kinomap turned out to be a bug infested swamp with poor support so I am looking for an alternative. Any suggestions welcome.

Bkool
I subscribed to Bkool recently (30 day trial) it appears to have very poor support, as one contributor said on here they say they will pass the comment on to the technical department and you never hear anything again.

I tried putting up a test video but it has currently got lost. There is a page for tracking progress (https://www.bkool.com/profile/videos?type=UPLOADED_VIDEO) it is always unavailable. I tried search for the video on Bkool application but it does not find it.

Do you have any advice on alternate applications or how to get a video up on Bkool. I wish Zwift would do this feature!

I understand BigRingVR is better platform to save your own rides. also its free to use for your own videos

Interesting I had not spotted that:

"Currently we are not offering this functionality. You can share your rides with others by posting your RLV on one of Internet storage sites and allowing them to download it to their hard drive. It can then be run in BigRingVR locally."

That may well solve the problem

It works very well. In the BRVR thread there are several rides that could be dl'd that were not from BRVR. They worked really well.

Do a search for @Aleman in the thread

To make it even easier. ( I may put a copy of this post in the BRVR Sub Forum as well)

Pollensa - Femenia - Sa Calobra - Sa Batella - Pollensa Loop

I've split the route into three sections of just over 30Km. they are not zipped, so download into your BRVR Videos directory, and remove the .zip extension

Part One - Up Coll De Femenia (5.76Gb) - I think there is a few seconds difference between gradient being shown to change and it actually changing for some reason
Part Two - Sa Calobra Down And Up (7.63Gb) - Watch out for that coach and the moron shooting past you at the bottom of the descent!!
Part Three - Down Coll de Sa Batella (4.91Gb) - Got a buffer empty message on this due to the slow real descent and the very fast trainer descent, also had several jumps in the video as it tried to keep up.

The GPX Tracks for these rides are contained in this Zip File ... This is a true zip file so will need to be unzipped into your BRVR Videos folder along with the video files.

Pollensa - Sa Batella - Femenia - Pollensa Loop

Up Coll De Sa Batella (8.75Gb) - Much better climb than Femenia In my opinion, and the best way to do Sa Calobra from Pollensa or Alcudia.

That is awesome I must give the above a try, first I want to put my own first test video (5 mins) up and see how easy it is to load up. I did a ride today and as all the enthusiasts have said so far the video quality was fantastic. see:
https://www.bigringvr.com/activity.aspx?rideID=54516
Remember I am 68 and I only pull 210 watts max
I have been basing my videos on the Book "Cycling Climbs of Scotland" by Simon Warren
This may be the answer for riding my own favorites. The quality is not good enough to share on Bkool etc but I like them.

Can I have some guidance on how to put up your own MP4 and matching TCX files, I put them where the other downladed file is but it is not seen by the application?

Maybe start thread with a list and links for high quality video we (I currently mean you) have produced that everyone can add to as time goes by.

Call it the CC Homebrew video list or something.

If your installation is "Stock" and you are rtunning on windows then the files go in the Documents\BigRing\Videos Folder NOT Rides or Download.

The other thing to be aware of is that the video and the GPX files must be synchronised, with any stops or gaps in the GPX file removed. You could use Garmin Virb Edit to do the editing, but I find it doesn't give enough control over the output video.

All sounds rather fiddly. I like the fact you can jump on and ride in Zwift. I can recommend the races or group rides. Pick a 'suitable' category (Zwift won't let you go too easy as it has your FTP calculations) and hang on. I've found people go like crazy at first, then blow up, so ideally you'll need to ride a bit harder than you'd want, but you soon find similar rides to continue with.

You can do that in BigRingVR as well, what we are talking about is recording your own videos (and GPX Track) and riding those again on the turbo, which is something Zwift will never be able to do! That in my mind, and for my purposes is one big plus for BKool, if only it wasn't so difficult to prepare the file for acceptance by BKool, which is down to the 'Thats good enough call it finished and release it!' attitude that prevails at BKool

I thought I understood what you told me but I am being stupid or something....
I put a MP4 video in a folder called Documents\BigRing\Videos
Questions
1) I assume the normal format for MP4 straight out of my windows Filmora editor?
2) Where do I put the matching GPX file? (I tried putting it beside the exising .tcx file or in the same folder neither worked)?

I had to create the Videos folder none existed!

Most MP4 files will work. There are quite a lot of video formats that can be used in MP4, so it might be that it is not working because Filmora uses another format. The change of that is not high though.

The GPX file should go next to the video file, in that same folder.

If you've done all that, but it's still not working, please send us an email at bigringvr@bigringvr.com, with the GPX file and bigringvr.log (from Documents\Big-Ring attached.

Also, did you, @olmosteel , by any chance insert an issue this evening? We received an issue report about this same issue, without a username attached, so it was rather hard to reply.

Thanks,
Ilja

@fossyant Yes, using ones' own video files is not extremely easy and could probably be made easier. However, using the rides we provide online is as simple as starting the app, selecting the ride and then starting the ride. No harder than Zwift I would say.
