What about the onion?

I picked up a new can opener a short while ago and on making myself some tuna fish sarnies for today I notice that it cuts the top off the can rather than removing the lid . Now I have the problem of draining the tuna , with the old way I could press the lid into the can and drain . I really could do without tuna fish based challenges at 630 in the morning![]()
To be fair Rocky it's not to keen on you either!I don't like tuna![]()
I can.I saw a Tuna Top Tip recently - I can't remember where, but probably on the Beeb one Saturday morning. A blind tasting showed that people couldn't taste any difference between the tinned tuna from the same brand whether it was 'steak', 'chunks' or 'flakes'. An important finding, given that tuna steaks are twice the price of flakes.
He knows that if you are stood in front of a can for half an hour there will be tuna at the end of it![]()
My cat goes potty when I put the microwave on as I am normally defrosting a steak or mince for dinner . He knows he will get raw meat so as soon as I go near it hes thereNo tuna tin opening goes smoothly in my household, unless it's a ring pull, but I'm too stingy to buy posh tuna tins
So, visualize:
me, standing in front of this tin, opener in hand, trying hard to decide which hand to use for holding, which hand to use for turning the little wheels, which direction to turn them. Turn them the wrong way, they won't slice the lid open.
I am ambidextrous, favoring the left
It takes me half an hour to open a tin of tuna.
Meanwhile, BigCat is howling his heart out, jumping up and down in excitement
How does he know it's tuna in the can when the sodding thing is not even pierced??
Ah, how do you know? Have you done a properly conducted double blind survey?I can.
Just what I was going to say!My can opener can be used vertically (to remove the lid the old-fashioned way) or horizontally (leaving the problem faced by the OP).
@Cuchilo, have you tried holding the can opener vertically?
