Well just came back from a road session. Completely different and the hill climb was a pain. What I did find from doing some interval training on the turbo was that I felt better over 30 second sprints on the road. Or may it was in my head! I will aim for 2-3 road sessions and 1-2 turbo sessions. That will keep the wife happy.

I think turbos are great, but I will never buy one as it just gives me an excuse to not go out in the rain. Slap on some waterproofs and get out there!

I don't really see it is a choice between Road v Turbo.

I use the Turbo as part of my winter training in a structured way. I use Trainer Road which means that I use my 60/90 minutes on my turbo for a pretty intense workout which keeps me at a reasonable level of fitness throughout the winter.

Nothing's beats getting out on the road but equally if you are looking to keep your fitness at a high level then a proper hour on the Turbo will beat all but the most disciplined hour training session on the road.
