Not favourites, but there were those interminable dubbed foreign serials that ran for literally half a year - 26 episodes. Heidi was one, and Silas the other, the latter being about a boy who lurched from dangerous situation to dangerous situation, riding a huge horse. No sooner had one finished, then the other started....

Vision On!
Great programme but I never realised it was a programme for the deaf until I was very grown up.

It wasn't 'for the deaf', so much as simply inclusive of them. I had a Vision On annual that had the BSL alphabet and a few basic signs in it, so I've been able to spell in BSL since I was quite young.

There are a few programmes for littles now that include Makaton (a simplified sign language for people with all manner of disabilities), and with the popularity of signing as a communication aid for all small children, deaf or hearing, signing is on the up - but funny to think how little distance we've come in that respect since Vision On, 30 or more years ago....

And don't forget Bod! And generally anything with Derek Griffiths in. I remember him being amazing at mime. I can't shed any light on Ludwig either...what was it?

Most people have mentioned things from my early childhood in the 70s, but what about the cartoons of the 80s? e.g. Battle of the Planets, Danger Mouse... etc etc and PINGU!! Before he was all CGI...

I met him, at a local museum kids event. I think the Playschool toys were there too. I was a horribly shy child, and about 6 or 7 I think, and all I remember is clinging to Mum and staying silent.
