Hi,
It seems my tv is playing up. I turn it on and I get 'no signal'. Have to perform set up everytime. I live in a block of flats assume I have a communal aeriel. My neighbour uses sky, so she's no help!. Is it the tv knackered? Or the aeriel? How do I find out before I buy a new telly? Thanks. Al

Take it round a friends house, plug it into their antenna.

Power cuts maybe ?
If it is the TV tuner that is knackered then I would just buy a freeview box.

. If i've read your explanation it does work when you set it up anew each time - is that right?

if so might it be the internal battery that allows it to remember all its settings when switched off

Take the back off and see if you can spot a battery - maybe a little deaf aid one or a soldered-in small rechargable. If soldered in, it is obviously slightly more awkward but can still be done

I get anything from a dozen to 130 channels depending on what direction my (indoor) aerial is pointing. I suspect yours is pointing in the wrong direction.

Have you got an hdmi cable running close to the aerial cable? On my tv if the two cables are within 2” of each other the tv loses signal completely.

I’m just in the process of changing both hdmi and aerial cables to better shielded versions.

I do. But..... the picture breaks up on certain channels, and. Only 20 channels found. ! Set up as in find channels.
I had lots of similar problems a year ago. Eventually bit the bullet and paid an expert. 20 minutes and it was sorted.

Is it still under warranty?
If lucky enough to have bought from John Lewis, call them out

Otherwise an aerial engineer?
