I have recently signed up for Twitter. I was intrigued by all the TdF tweets that get reported by the TdF commentators. Now my only problem is getting my head round how to use it. The commentators ask a question, lot's of people send in answers and comments but I can't find them. I guess I will work it out just as the Tour ends.

You may well be correct.

I can see me unsigning from Twitter in the near future. I can't be bothered trying to work it out. It isn't that important.

I'm sort of considering it for a work capacity. Having looked at a few 'accounts' I can agree with Dave Cameron's comment of too many tweets makes a tw*t! But for a business aspect, particulalry where situations change hourly, it's great to keep updated those who want to know.

But essentially, I feel it's more of the same bizarre narcissistic culture that is facebook 'I'm having some porridge'

It's amazing how many people have the same preconception about Twitter, that all the communication is one-way and self-centered. Sure, it can be that, but it's so much more.

Essentially it's another, but more concise, forum where people can communicate.

There are people on CycleChat who post similar stuff to "I'm having some porridge" (CycleChat Cafe is full of it), but there are loads of exchanges of useful and interesting info too. Same goes for Twitter. Once you get to grips with who to follow in your interest circles and how to use and look for hashtags you'll begin to understand the possibilities.

It is the cyber equivalent of ticker-tape imo. A right PITA

I use twitterfall to follow trends and topics. Just stick in a search word and it'll find all the related posts and update as new ones come in. You can also link it to your twitter account and reply/retweet as you wish.

You can also install software like tweetdeck and set it to refresh on key words.

That sounds more like it. I'm sorry about the porridge comment, it is more relevant on this website than any other!
