My mum's teaspoons always worked for me.

I used forks as the tines can be hooked round the spokes to hold them in tension so you can get the second one in.

I haven't used spoons in about thirty years but I do still use steel levers. Any plastic ones I've ever used just break or bend. I know people advocate all sorts of posh plastic ones but why bother when steel levers are way cheaper and will last until I lose them?

I have never damaged a rim with steel levers. Just work carefully.
