All of this discussion about tyre levers would be unnecessary if people would just use TALC as a dry lubricant.

 I carry so much stuff in my cycling bag that it weights about a kg..... I have some talcum powder too....

I fear my wife would not be able to find me if my bike broke down in the middle of the New Forest... so I carry the kitchen sink with me

I worry too much I think.

I'm having too fit tyres all the time now for people that ask for wheels with new tyres alreasy fitted or bring me wheels to fix with tyres already on. So I invested on a tool that goes by the name kool stop tyre jack the tool does work but I'm not sure how long it will last. If it was made of metal then I'd be happier [/QUOTE]
That is a superb looking piece of kit.......sadly, not really made to take on a ride though.

Bontrager for me too. Before you try to take a tyre off make sure you have released the beads and pushed them into the well of the rim, and push the valve up into the tyre. Then you'll probably be able to remove the tyre without levers.

I keep mine for putting on the dance floor (where permitted).

Talc, that is, not tyre levers.

That's a relief, thought I was the only person who carried talcum powder with him, my wife kindly donated a miniature bottle of the stuff to me. I use it stop my saddle (or it could be my backside) squeaking.

Regarding tyre levers my vote goes for Pedros.

I'm keen on getting some VAR levers but not in a rush as the plaggy ones I have are alright. I'll keep looking in bike shops (my excuse for keep going into shops when we're out and about) :becool:
