I'm going to be using my Dawes Fox to commute to work these fine summer weeks, but I need to replace the tyres. The route is a twelve miler part urban, mostly rural with the obvious danger of the usual detrius on roads / cyclepaths. My regular bike; a GT Outpost is shod with Marathon Plus, as I don't really want to have to stop to fix punctures on the way to work or from at 23.30h. on the way home - ! In eight years, the Marathons have rarely let me down.
The Dawes rims are Mavic Open Sport and it's currently has Vittoria Competition Roma 28 3D Kevlar tyres; sized @ 700 x 28C, 28 - 622. But they are nearly twenty years old. Haven't been used a lot - !
Puncture resistance is paramount, so any suggestions out there please; but not at silly prices - !

I think you’ve answered your own question, marathons take a lot of beating especially for the price.
