I agree, I’d love an early SWB on steel wheels.

I'm partial to them too
Likewise not the f**tballers wives pimped-up AMG rubbish, but a bread & butter steel-wheeled/diesel engined varient
I saw this beauty, when I was taken to Malta, back in October 2018
Mdina (I think?)... 'The Silent City'

We stayed at the Xara Palace a few years ago for my brothers wedding, it’s a stunning place.

Whilst en-route to the Midland Hotel, on Saturday (27th), l enquired of SWMBO if she’d be okay with me travelling through a certain village (High Bentham) in order to find a specific garage/dealer* (instead of out usual route there, from Kirkby Lonsdale)
I left it at that, having already seen the INEOS Grenadier dealer at Skipton
It was found, I did get an eye-roll, which l think meant ‘Big Boys Toys’

The main-gate with the MAN camper was open, but I didn't go in, I was rather hoping that a guy in the yard might have gestured for me to do so, & let me have a look around
Oh well.....

This U1000 is listed as a 'Starter Mog'... given the price (& problems)

* I think there's also an agricultural machinery specialist in Ingleton, with premises alongside the A65, that also deals in 'Mogs, but not to this extent

The website unimog.co.uk is owned by that high Bentham garage. UK distributor of parts and main dealership. Specialising in conversions. I think if you wanted to buy a Unimog in the UK and needed a specialist conversion Mercedes-Benz will just send you to this company.

As an aside, I applied for an academic scheme at Lancaster University where you work on an industry / University project, get a research masters and hopefully end up employed in R&D at the sponsor company. Can you guess what the company was? Atkinson Voz at High Bentham! Yes, that unimog garage! I didn't actually apply because the academic advisor for that project was a beep beep and told me not to bother applying. Shame really because my interview would have been about the possibility of driving a company car! Not full time just to give it a go one time. I reckon they have somewhere to test them.

Atkinson Voz is a small but very knowledgeable team of unimog experts. If you get one from them you will be getting a good one. Real good engineers at that place.

Atkinson Voz Ltd, Wennington Mill, Bentham.

Now why don't you visit their site and drool over the available unimogs. I did! ^_^

When I last looked at that site a few years back there was a conversion with an Arctic survival box on the back with full requirements to drive in really cold climates and survive! Yours at a bargain price if £100,000!

It seems a forward looking company to be involved in what is effectively providing a research student a decent graduate salary to only work there half time, in the hope the outcome is a technology step forward and a new, technology advanced employee after two years. I think the idea is to develop their own, in house R&D capability. I certainly believe that they are value added unimog dealers not your run of the mill dealers at least. Custom builds are their thing right down to mechanicals.

My sadly departed dad worked as a fencer and drainer all his days and really wanted one for his work. He never managed to find one so bought an ex army lorry which was quite good. It used to have a crawler gear and he would set it off along the edge of a field and stand in the back and throw the fence posts out..........no health and safety back then.
