As I quite often change my route the indicators change too; so only the start/finish are constantly familiar

^^ this for me too (either that or I have a terrible memory).

On time - should immediately see local double glazers van before I leave the village, thats a good early indicator.

By 1/3 distance I should have seen Total Roofing Solutions van, grey late 90's celica, middle aged man in new impreza reg "N5..." which used to be on his bmw 5 series.

If slightly early I'll be close-passed by a woman in a red civic who without fail waves her arms around wildly pointing at the cycle path

On GBW (half distance and onwards) if slightly early I'll see a late middle aged man with barry white shades on pounding along in the opposite direction, always wears shorts. WHO ARE YOU? I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND!

No matter what time I leave I'm always overtaken by a chap on a giant defy.

If I'm 5-10 mins late on the last third of my journey I will be overtaken by a bloke on a mountain bike with a seatpost about 4ft long. He will scream past then settle annoyingly about 20 yards infront to slightly less than my speed.

What about Child Bike Man?

There's a chap who rides a tandem with his youngest daughter on the back - in the morning I usually overtake them between Longstanton and Oakington, if late then it's near the jam factory (smells amazing!), I'm running late if I see him again on the way home.

*Edit Link here - they used to have a 3 seater, but now the oldest is on her own bike drafting her dad and sister.

They'll be changing their name to The New Saints Roofers before long!

No such thing as late. Just how many extra miles I can fit in before I need to be at work.

With so much traffic on my way in and out of work and with me taking such different routes each day. I rarely see the same cars let alone the same cyclists.

Dave, do you cross the bridge at the Green Dragon? White Giant bike? High vis top and blue tracksuit bottoms this morning?

No I was relegated to the car this morning due to spending yesterday in bed trying to keep my guts on the inside.

Where is the green dragon? I just do longstanton to the science park on the gbw.

Yeah I've seen them. Makes me think of a Lancaster bomber with fighter escort.

Child's MTB slipstream-man laughs in the face of routine. I've seen him on my "early" ride (I accompany the wife approx 7am if she cylces to work) and also on my later ride on my own at 7.45-8am
