After nearly 35k miles cycling, over 12k miles on tadpole recumbent trike today a first!. On single track road oncoming car decided not to go up on the verge and let me pass (unusual) and decided not to reverse 20m to a passing place and obstinately expected me to "get out of his way". I pointed out "I don't have a reverse gear like you do". So in the end I couldn't be bothered with complete arrogant imbeciles so I ended-up having to do a 6-point turn (on a narrow single track road) cycle ⅓ mile back to a more distant passing place and pull in to let him past. I was flabbergast. But then "BMW".

But reflecting further, everybody knows there are arrogant fools with too much money and not enough good sense who expect the world to bow and scrape to accommodate their every wish and meeting one should be no surprise. Whilst ithe above was a first for me and I was shocked by the driver, reality is that the far more frequent overtaking on blind corners is or should be far more unbelievable.

They'd probably do the same if you had been a in a "lesser" car, or a woman in any car.

I hope you made as much of a pig's ear of that multi-point turn as possible, holding the driver up far longer than if they'd just backed up.

I had a similar experience about a month ago on one of my favourite country lanes. I was riding up a short hill when a van came around the corner at the top (where there is a passing place), slowed, saw me and decided to keep coming. There was no room for us to pass, never mind leave 1.5m, so we both stopped a few feet apart. The driver opened his door window and just looked at me so I suggested he reverse back. He flatly refused using the old adage of road tax, roads are for cars, etc., etc..

After a few minutes of meaningless discussion I decided to turn around and go back to the bottom of the hill where he could pass ... but as I had to dismount to turn around I decided to very slowly walk back down the hill in the middle of the lane. When I got to the bottom I slowly turned the bike around, remounted and moved to the side. As he drove by I pushed his door mirror up against the window (so that it wouldn't hit me - he was that close).

He stopped and began to harangue me until I pointed to my rear camera and told him the whole incident had been recorded on both front and rear cameras and that I would be sending the video clips to Operation Snap. He made a final derogatory comment and drove off at speed ... only to come up against a local farmer with a tractor and trailer. It was so funny watching him have to reverse right back to the top of the hill again  That cheered me up so much I didn't bother reporting him - instant karma ^_^

Well done not getting too angry and frustrated.

IMO the best possible thing to do faced with such idiocy is to take as long as possible over the interaction, just to ensure they're not rewarded by their stupidity.

Had a jackass in an EV try to squeeze passed me a while back - driver foolishly mentioned road tax so I pointed out I had a motorbike, car and van and paid around £500 a year whereas his EV was free so maybe he should make way for me! I would never have believed someone could go that red in the face, I thought he was going to explode like the ancient gas geyser in my student digs in the 70's  (thats a story for another day)

He was well held up.

But weird thing was thinking afterwards. Reflecting, of course I knew there were plenty of people in certain card makes on the roads - that should be no surprise and the surprise should be it's taken me 35k miles to actually meet one.

But that I felt a trivial and safe incident worthy of note and reflection where the frequent and highly dangerous madness of overtaking cyclist (me) on a blind corner in the blind hope there are no oncoming vehicles that should be the real shocking thing but that's so frequent it doesn't even get remembered 2 minutes after the corner.
