Hill Wimp

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
I don't think he felt the same excitement that BigonaBianchi expressed however, nor did it put him off.

My daughter (our eldest) can do punctures and general tyre/tube/tape stuff, replace and adjust head bearings, do simple trueing with spoke-tightening, adjust and replace caliper/canti/V-brakes, get gears just about right, measure chains for wear and replace them and do general fettling.

If she tells her current geezer (an occasional leisure cyclist) is he suddenly going to propose?

IMHE advice her NEVER to show a man what she can do at the beginning of a relationship, he will be put right off because men like to be an all encompassing provider for their woman ...erm, hope this won't enrage the sex equality brigade.
Fortunately for us all, equality of the sexes is promptly redressed, (again IMHE), when the novelty of being an all encompassing bringer of well being to his woman wears off the man - this does normally not take long, few months at the most.
He will then be extremely glad of a gear adjusting partner.

He is a nice kid (although I imagine he thinks I dislike him). And he's had a tiny lessonette from me himself on bicycle stuff.

He said he'd been given a thing called a Banshee (or similar) from the Seventies and it was quite a nice road bike he'd like to do up. He asked for me to have a peep at it.

It was indeed quite nice. And it was pale blue. And it wasn't a Banshee. Lovely old italian steel and quite yummy for its age.

Here is the update on my latest dating advice request....well...not much to tell except that I did text the lady but got no reply...I then waited 5 days and made a call but got no answer but I left a voicemail message...still no reply...should I just leave things and move on or try once more for luck? Lady cycle chatters please advise...cheers

She should at least grow a pair and have the decency to tell you NO!! Best off out of it by the sound of it, find somebody decent:thumbsup:

@Boris Bajic male bonding with the prospective father in law that is ;)

It was only a matter of days ago that I held that tiny, newborn baby girl in my arms and she didn't have the strength to support her own head...

That's my baby, that is. My baby. Twenty years ago she was just a tiny, little, helpless baby. That's just days ago!!!!!!!!!

That sort of talk about marriage and love and grown-up things is treason and wrong and sinful and crazy and I will use a sledge hammer and a large trowel to take Glasgow apart, brick by brick, if there is ever (EVER) any talk of my daughter getting married or anything silly like that.

But apart from that, your post seems quite reasonable and sound.
