came home last night the long way, 22 miles along rural roads around 5 to 6pm, and i counted 3 drivers using the phone.

question is if i saw 3 how many did i miss so how many use the phone while driving?

Around here it's mostly van drivers I see on the phone whilst I'm cycling. I know there's debates about whether handsfree is actually any safer, but it always amazes me that business people/companies who rely on their vehicles don't invest in a simple handsfree kit.

What also always concerns me is that it's normally vans who give me the least room whilst overtaking....

Around here it is often women, just after school drop off time. To level it up I saw a bloke texting whilst riding his bike.

The other day (tbh I forget which but it was this week) I counted about 6 in 10 minutes of riding. I dont often see many in all honesty. The times I do see them tend to be at night, or in places where they know they'll get away with it (around schools, suburbia and shopping areas - all tend to be unpoliced and high pedestrian use)

if you look for it it's utterly rife

peope were terrified for about a week after it was made an offense until they realised you never got done for it even if caught red handed

Now now Tynan, you know that's an exageration. I will admit the chances of getting caught are fairly remote.

The gentleman from eastern europe who nearly had me off yesterday on my way into work, will be getting a visit from me this afternoon. Ticket book in hand!

It's worse than ever now with the popularity of Facebook etc. A good proportion of cars that i see the driver has his or her head tilted down into their mobile with the occasional glance up at the road.

Often the company doesn't require mobiles and will have policy of "no phones" (or at least actually have them installed for the company phone, not personal).

Lest the driver will be calling their mate on their own phone etc.

I think we should all chip in to buy you a decent helmet cam - so long as you send us footage of your "visits"

Reminds me of going to away games with a friend of mine driving,on way home he'd be checking his fixed odds coupon whilst driving, peering at the road every so often
