Using the proper smiley... or not

I liked it back in the days when they were made of disused punctuation marks. ;-) :-D :-0 and so forth.
That said, you couldn't do this with punctuation:

I like smilies, so much easier to read then real life faces. And unlike in real life faces you can hover the cursor and find out what the unusual ones mean.

To me:
grinning
laughing
smug
shocked
sad
embarresed
annoyed
sick

They are fairly obvious but I don't get these. I'm not always sure what people mean with them.



There should be an Iphone App for people with AS that shows the relevent smilie during real life converations. That would be really good.
