I don't mind the common ones or the obvious ones. But DKU-whatever-it-was?

I just looked it up.....not worth arguing with BM agaiin...I will never win.;)

The difference being, that DKUATB is a reasonably well known acronym and is widely used. I can understand someone not having come across it before, but not the unwillingness to look it up.

I've never come across it, and when I clicked on the spurious link you sent I am invited to "Just zarking Google It". You can go off people you know, Mikey.

In all seriousness, I can't understand the unwillingness to make your meaning clear when you're making a point on a public forum. That strikes me as basic courtesy. It may well be a common acronym in your world, but I haven't come across it before and I fail to see why I should spend my time looking up something you've written just to make your life easier.

+1 I'm pretty IT / Internet articulate and have never heard that acronym before. It seems stupid for 'n' amount of readers to spend 'x' time looking up an obscure acronym instead of the OP writing in plain english in the first place, we're not exactly talking 'LOL' or something.

That was my point. I made a half polite, half humorous inquiry as to the meaning of an acronym I'd never heard, and was told to go and look it up myself. Seemed unnecessarily rude to me.

It's wrong - the cost of cars and roads is far more than raised by VED and fuel duty.

Pressure groups like 'Oxymoron'....sorry 'Safespeed' and the Assn of British Drivers (ABD) wheel out figures that 'demonstrate' taxes paid by motorists, outstrip DfT spending on roads by a ration of about 20 to 1.

A case of over-simplifying something for your own purpose, i.e. they imply that the only cost of motoring is maintaining the roads, and the cost to the NHS of accidents.

They forget that a large chunk of VED is paid for by way of much higher rates for LGVs and buses.

Whatever, Mikey. If you can't see why answering a civil question with "just ****ing google it" is rude and unnecessary, there's not a lot I can do. It would have taken you just as little time to type the answer for me as to provide your rather patronising and sneering link, after all.
