I love it – we got married on Valentine’s Day in 2001. :shy: Never forget it.:smooch:
 All 3 people in the photo look so happy to be there. Especially the vicar.

My ex (Karma smite her) is a taff so those two years I did the Dydd Santes Dwynwen thing as a novelty. Otherwise I've never had to suffer the nonsense.

I'm not overly bothered about Valentine's day, usually because the other half is away working, but it looks like he'll be home for this one, so I'll be hitting up the Moorings (local pub with some of the strongest and best beers in town and live music), and dancing like a spoon to the Quireboys (90's emo trash rock pop)... Actually delighted!

I like having permission to be lovely dovey without making the world look uncomfortably at their feet but I'm not into the idea that you need to give or receive gifts to be loved. The card is the most important thing to me because he always writes really funny but touching messages which I treasure.

But it has become a bit much in recent years - for example the list Alex H posted above - a telly for Valentine's Day? What better way to say I love you than with the gift of Jeremy kyle face on a 40 inch screen?! LOL

And a push up bra? "I love you and everything but your boobs are a bit saggy".

I have a feeling I'll be getting a gift from an airport since he'll be traveling from now till Thursday night! Got vouchers for an all day cooking class at the Nick Nairn cook school last year, brilliant present. (Completely unnecessary though, we always say we're not getting presents and it never happens...)

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
This year I promise to write a handwritten letter of thanks to all the ladies who send me cards, last year I just binned them all ...so shallow, how I lived with myself all year I'll never know...:rolleyes::rolleyes:;)

We always celebrate valentine day. I'm a romantic I guess. We do it before or after the 14th.... no need to pay more for the same food.
We celebrated today and we just came back from a lovely meal. We much prefer it like that. Not so many people and even had time to chat to the same waiter that has been serving us for the last 15 years.

I will get some flowers and write something nice on a card, there's always a meaningful picture on my camera or phone which I print and use as a card, they are her favourite cards.

Valentine's Day. I still fall for it because Mrs Colly likes it. I don't hate it but thinks it's kind of lame. If you love someone showing it on one day a year when it's expected is pretty meaningless when for the other 364 days you couldn't give a monkeys.
What you do everyday, when life is just happening is what counts, not some big fark off bunch of roses you got from the local service station once a year.
Still I guess you can do both, there's always that option.

I think I may have asked about this last year, and apparently Service Station Roses are the ultimate insult. Something to do with picking them up while fuelling the car, as it could mean the roses were an afterthought, rather than the entire reason for the trip. You have to make a dedicated trip to a florist to get any points from the recipient of the roses. Mad, but true!
