Out of curiosity etc, I've been doing a few searches for similar issues, and found this, another chap whose CGR Ti cracked around the internal routing holes. Not heard of that particular issue with any other titanium frame brand- including Kinesis, who of course have at least a few reported failures of their own, including on here- and they all offer internal routing as an option if not as standard. A weak point in the Ribble design, perhaps…

Did not Michael Adu's Enigma suffer from the same problem? Thankfully they replaced it.

Sounds very similar to the break on my first frame and think he sums up how I feel quite nicely, overall a feeling of sadness as I've really enjoyed riding my CGR and would happily carry on for as long as I can, but also a feeling of frustration that this fault is happening in the first place.

From what I've seen I think there is definitely and underlying design problem here as all the cracks seem to eminating from the same place, probably a sharp corner in the welded in cable surround. I'd be tempted to hack my frame apart just to see if this the case!

There's also another chap on youtube who bought a secondhand CGR Ti which cracked in a similar manner, seems Ribble replaced the frame no quibbles even though he didn't have the original receipt or any paperwork ... very generous, will be interesting to see what they say about my predicament!

Dolan GTX. Was going to buy just a frame but a complete bike was not much more, so after a bit of encouragement from Mrs W (bless her  and like any encouragement was needed ) ordered a ready built.
So far Dolan customer service have been excellent, hope that continues with the delivery fulfilment.

Just following this as I'd love to hear how you get on, I have just placed an order for the GXT and just waiting for my Cycle2Work voucher to come through. The customer service from Donlan has been great so far but looking at 20 days for the build. I really couldn't find much info on the current model but from a price spec perspective seemed like good value from a company with a good reputation. Can't wait but likely Dec now before I get mine!

I agree, customer service from Dolan has been brilliant, I've been firing questions at them left right and centre and they've always come straight back with the info I've requested. In theory my 20 days are up this Thursday but I've not heard anything yet so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they deliver to their promised timescale! I'll let you know what happens, at the moment I'm taking rest from the bike for a few weeks (think I've got tendonitis) so not in a massive rush, but would still like to see what I've bought!

On the Ribble front they did get back to me and suggested I put in a warranty request and guess what ... they sent me a new frame, no arguments! I'm still deciding what to do with it, whether to sell it (which I'm not keen on due to my experience) or to keep it and build it up as a winter/spare bike. Looking at the frame itself it looks as though they've changed the cable port position and it's now on the top of the headtube where I guess theres less stress. Seems to me that they've recognised there is/was a problem so are replacing frames when they fail, even if they're way out of warranty as in my case.

So the Dolan turned up today, bang on schedule as promised. Set up was easy, just assemble the front wheel and saddle/seatpost and you're away. The only slight issue was slight front brake rub put that was easily sorted.
One worry I had was the shifting performance due to the sharpish cable bends through the integrated headset, but glad to report it all works faultlessly, actually better than the Ribble ever was! Now just need to get out and ride 😁

It looks great; thanks for sharing! Mine is all ordered, and they said it would take 20 days, but they also hinted that as they don't have to paint these it might take less.

Like you, I thought the cable bends look tight so glad they work ok!

I am 183cm tall and went for the large, I often fall between sizes and never really had any problems, there's always stuff to tweak fit so hopefully all good. After much debate, I went for the Titanium seat post, but that carbon one looks nice!

17 days to New Bike Day!

Yeah I was surprised about the cable bends, I tried to simulate this on the Ribble and it just wouldn't shift cleanly, so I'm very relieved how well the Dolan shifts. I wonder if it is down to the GRX rear mech, took the rear wheel out yesterday and struggled to pull the RD cage back, maybe the GRX spring is stronger than a road mech.
I'm 1.8m tall so like you between sizes, was going go for a medium but that would have meant a stack of spacers under the stem so went for a large and glad I did as fits me well, so at 1.83m think you should be OK.
The carbon seatpost shown on the website is one of the single bolt jobs (which I hate) so was happy to see the one supplied has the two bolt fore and aft arrangement so overall I'm one happy bunny!

I upgraded my Topstone to GRX a while ago and had a similar first experience with the RD, until I found the little switch that disengaging the clutch. Glad the sizing worked out well for you! My Topstone if a Medium but the Geometry is slightly different, so should be all good for.

16 Days to go!
