Veg slicer/chopper....any recommendations ?

I'd not recommend a mandolin. it's tricky for long carrots and they are quite dangerous even with the guard, but a Julienne type attachment the blades are still on show. Also for cabbage it tends to go everywhere and slicers aren't wide enough to accomodate the whole cabbage so you end up with "tear-out". Same goes for onions really. I only found my Mandolin usefull for lots of small slices (cucumber, sliced carrots etc).

I'd get any food processor that has the necessary attachments for what you need. Mine works well, I just rarely use it becasue I'm too lazy to clean it. But you can just stick fairy and hot water in there, blitz it up and wipe it out
