My team is without three riders now; gradually going backwards.

Mine is also without 3 riders, and going backwards fairly rapidly.

I've only lost Mads P so far, and I'm going gently forwards, but not very quickly, and could well go backwards when the GC stuff kicks in again
This was the Stage Race Champs after Renewi...

CJCycling has made up the 600ish pts on me in 2nd, Boerum Hill Bing Ringing is having a bit of a bad one (after a good Pog flavoured start) but I don't think I'm going to make up those sort of points on him ....

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
With second and fourth place on today's stage I take yet another cyclechat league stage victory.

Surely I must be hurtling towards the top of the GC? Well, kinda. Fourth from bottom.

The stage race championship could be going down to the wire here. Not tempting fate, but my Carapaz & Onley in 4th and 5th with Wout in green might just about swing it when the final Vuelta points are handed out. It's still a thousand points and two hard stages to go but it could be pretty tight.
Meanwhile CJC could also catch me for 2nd if Carapaz has some sort of collapse. All three here of us have Skjelmose and there's lots of overlap between the teams

You're not that bad. You're actually only fifth from bottom.

No, definitely 4th from last (remember "last" and "first from last" are different things)

I don't think they are - fourth from last means fourth in the series, but counting in reverse order (last to first). It's not instructing you to count the gap from a position (last place + 4), it's instructing you to count the places backwards (last, second last, third last, fourth from last). First from last (never heard expression) is last, just as we never hear first from top - because it's top. Same as with third from bottom in the Premier league - it's a relegation place not just above the relegation zone.

At least that was how my coding master Obi Wan* Headgear explained it.

*We think it might be OB One = Out By One

Here's how I see it but I could be wrong

Last = Last. No argument about that
Penultimate = first from last, aka next-to-last
Antepenultimate = second from last
The one before antetpenultimate = 3rd from last

So fourth in the series is third from last.

Congratulations to the numerologically challenged @Dogtrousers on taking the final Vuelta stage with his Killer Bees team, rounding out a hattrick of stages late in the race.

Congrats also to Adrianos Saint Miller for winning the Vuelta overall, and commiserations to CJCycling for missing the podium by a mere two points!

Congratulations also to Boerum Hill Big Ringing for winning the Stage Race Championship by a healthy 853 points - a stunning final win for Tobias Halland Johannessen with placings for both Widar and Fisher-Black, coupled with the lack of anything from Van Aert, Cort or Kron helped seal what could have been a very tight race. Really the race ended on Vuelta stage 20, where Onley's fade-out, Carapaz's inability to advance further and THJ's second place made a final stage turnaround highly unlikely.

A closer margin from 2nd to 3rd placed CJCycling of just 184 points which would have been reversed if only Kuss could have held on for just a little longer or Van Aert had dropped back to help him earlier, an incredibly tight race over the season!

Lastly, congrats to me for winning the Triple Crown (three GTs)! There were only four of us elligible for the contest, which is only open to those that have bunged a couple of quid in the bucket for Velogames. It's a one man show - all his own coding, and all his own hosting expenses, time filling out start lists etc. etc. etc. so well worth chipping in if you've enjoyed playing.

Overall, disappointing final score for me and not being closer to the podium (mainly because I only had 4 riders finish*).

However, I shall console myself by coming top of the podium with a team consiting of 5 riders or less to finish and having won the most gold medals in this round!

(*And yes I do realise the idea is to have 9 guys finish...considering how many dropped out, it is impressive that Pedalear muy rapido still had 9 roll into Granada).
