The Nintendo Switch 2 is the latest one, the most expensive and the most powerful. The previous generation Switch comes in 3 versions, the standard Switch, the Switch OLED and the Switch Lite.

Switch Lite: handheld mode only, 32Gb internal storage, smallest LCD screen (5.5")
Switch: comes with a dock to play connected to your TV, 32Gb storage, or handheld mode with its own screen (6" LCD)
Switch OLED: same as Switch except a bit more internal storage (64Gb) and a very nice 7" OLED screen.

If you're not interested in playing the latest games the Switch 2 isn't worth it. The screen isn't as good as the OLED.

I would definitely recommend the Switch OLED of the Nintendo consoles.

Yes. Cex is your best bet, and Deku Deals is worth keeping tabs on (although it's not Nintendo specific).

Nintendo have always been criticised for their pricing: their rationale is that they believe in the value of their product and don't want to diminish it by dropping the price off a cliff a month after release. Personally I think that's fair enough, but others will disagree.

I just realised my laptop is a ROGStrix G15 which I bought to run AutoCad on back in 2020 so with an Xbox games player controller I should be good to go there’s lots of free Windows games to have a go with but it’s not as portable as the Nintendo.

I still use playstation and enjoy it on the winter short days, but find the Zombie games result in unintended consequences at this time of year.

I'm quite keen on Kerbal Space Program with 4.5k hours in it over the past few years, the modern mods take full advantage of my modest RTX4070 card that's for sure.

Its exciting to design a rocket to propel your little Kerbal, pilot it to outer space before landing on an unexplored Moon or Planet before returning home to hopefully land in one piece. Its a built your own adventure!

I'm thinking of getting back into gaming. I had the PS3 when it first came out and for about 4 years spent far too much time playing on it especially as I worked from home a lot before it became commonplace and things could be quiet back in the recession. It was genuinely scary seeing the amount of time logged playing various versions of COD when you looked at the stats! I never upgraded to the PS4 and then couldn't get the PS5 when it came out then lost interest. The kids are now grown up and there's never anything I want to watch on TV so thought I might bite the bullet and get a new console but was put off getting a PS5 as it has been out a few years now and assumed a PS6 wouldn't be far away but from searching the web it doesn't look likely for at least a couple of years. I suppose that begs the question XBox or PS although I know that's like Shimano v Campag and most people think what they use is far superior. I'd be keen to hear from people who have used both quite extensively what the pros and cons of each are though (I'm erring to PS simply as that's what I'm used to).

I had a PS1 and (still have) a PS2 but have been in the Xbox ecosystem since the first Xbox, through 360, XBOne, Series X. I've not used any recent PS though except briefly at a mate's house,

Xbox Series X is still the most powerful console in terms of graphics and smoothness, but PS5 isn't that far behind. Next gen consoles are still a couple of years away for both.

XBox has more games available, and if you subscribe to Game Pass you get hundreds of games for free including lots of recent titles. They bring new games in all the time. I understand Playstation Network has a similar concept but don't know how many games it has.
Playstation is better for console exclusives and story based games.
