Recently got a Quest 3 VR headset and signed up for GeForce Now ultimate.

All I can say gaming has come a long way since Dark Castel on the Mac and the NES!!!

The really mad bit is I'm playing all these games with essentially no local hardware, all of the content is been streamed from a data centre in Europe, and as far as I can tell the response to the controls etc is the same as having a local PC......It's black magic, and I love it ^_^

My 43 year old son came to visit today and brought his newly purchased vr headset to show me and his mum. Bloody hell. I'm proper lost for words to describe the experience. Still in shock. The time is almost here when all you will EVER need is a vr headset. No TV, no tablet/laptop, no holidays because you can visit anywhere in the world from your armchair. If you thought the mobile phone is addictive then try a top of the range headset. I definitely don't want one. The only limiting factor, at the moment, is battery life (about two hours continuous I'm told) but this can be extended to about 7 hours I believe by using an external battery pack. What a piece of kit 😲

Ex gamer here , ive been clean ^_^ for probably going in 12-14yrs . My habit stared way back in the quake 3 / Unreal Tournament days . Progressed to more FPS , Medal of Honor and then the one that really got me was COD .
By mid 2000s I was a complete WoW addict …. That seriously was a time sink in fact , it was starting to interfere with life .. it got binned and started on the Xbox playing more COD and Battlefield etc but by then I could take it or leave it . Don’t play any games now , my son uses my Xbox live account . Been tempted to dip back in into BF or CoD on the Xbox but that’s about as far as I got …. Mid 50s and would rather take the dog for a walk lol

Borderlands 4 has just come out, £79.99 for a digital only copy. No thanks!

I've got all previous Borderlands games, all limited edition with Bobbleheads, badges, bags and all sorts of guff. The most expensive of those was still cheaper than this one for just a licence to play until they turn the server off.

You can get it for £60 on steam, which is about the cost of a AAA game these days. Runs like dogshit though apparently, even on decent hardware. Not finished borderlands 3 yet so will wait until its on offer before I get it.

Doesn't sound like a AAA game if the performance is so bad lol

I'm on Xbox though, so will be a while before the price drops enough for me to get it.

It's really badly optimised by the sounds of it - not rare with AAA games on release unfortunately but the first few patches tend to sort it out.

Might not be as bad on console, but they tend to have lower visual settings than PC versions anyway.

Mate has a Quest 3, flipping amazing piece of kit. I just could not get it to work on my gaming laptop though, some kind of conflict going on. I really want a VR headset but mainly just for Elite: Dangerous.
Just replaying Borderlands 1 on the Steam Deck, but on the Enhanced edition. Then I've got 2 and 3 to play at some point, so I doubt I'll be bothering about B4 in the near future

How's it run on the deck? Not bothered to install it yet there, still working my way through too many other things.

Not in a squadron lol! Don't want to interact with folk when gaming  I play solo mode usually so only encounter NPCs

PS Why does the forum software think I want to do an emoji because it found colon D in the middle of a string? Should be smarter than that

Butter smooth. Never seen it drop below 70fps. Minor but slightly annoying bug in the game launcher, you have to use the touch screen to click Play game. And it took me a while to get the gyro aim working in controller settings. Default is off. I'm using "Gyro to joystick camera (beta)"

I went through the same as you, total addict missing work to game, WOW was the big one, so immersive people actually died IRL on it not eating drinking & sleeping properly. Some Korean kids were mining for money and at least one died of a heart attack.
Discovered cycling so don’t game. My last gaming PC I built was a waste of money as I never really used it. Now it’s a bit out dated.
