Did anyone take advantage of the Volvo Life Paint giveaway last weekend? I was waiting for the local Volvo dealer’s door to open and still didn’t get a free can. Instead I wasted £10 on one. The salesman did tell me that it was useless on any hard surface but maintained it was robust and long lasting on fabric, only washing out with detergent.

Well, he was wrong. I sprayed my gloves, backpack and the fabric parts of my shoes. The results under a camera flash were impressive and messy. But riding through rain this week as seen the Life Paint melt away and today there is none visible anywhere.

Don’t waste your money.

The Salesman did say Volvo are bringing out a more resilient version, but I would like it to be applied by brush rather than a non-directional spray can.

"Local" Volvo dealer hadn't heard of the paint when I asked.
Short lifespan is known about by Volvo. They gave the figure of about a week, between applications.

Mod note: The concept of Life Paint has already been discussed in another thread (link) but how many have actually tried it? Did you take up the offer? Is it good or not? Let us know in this thread.:okay:

I got some at the weekend. I thought it would be good on my ruck sack. It is more of a powder when dry. I now have it on my car seat and down my left leg. It is a great idea but needs to be mixed with something that does stick to fabric and smooth surfaces. At the moment it is a waste of money.

My primary issue is that it’s a publicity stunt designed for Instagram rather than roads. If it doesn’t really show up in car headlights, it doesn’t work. And to suggest it does – and can somehow prevent the 19,000 bicycle accidents the publicity material suggests happen in the UK each year – is not only rather misleading but also irresponsible.

I agree with the Guardian article, the only saving grace for Volvo is that this evening I received an email confirming they were refunding the £10 I paid for the can. I didn't ask, only emailed to say that the paint didn't work and wasn't long lasting. Their response was to offer a full refund.

Edit - posted the link before watching - it's a bit long and boring - you have been warned!
But the guy's not impressed...
