There was an interesting letter in the paper.
A woman wrote saying that she was going to spoil her paper or not vote. However, she figured that there will be a PCC voted in whatever she does, so she went and voted on the basis that might as well have a say as to who it is, or isn't.

That is how I see it. I will vote whatever I feel about it as someone will get voted in so I might as well influence it is I can.

We were a Polling Station today. When I left at 5.30, the guys reckoned they'd got a 4.5% turnout so far. They'd just had rush of 4 people in an hour.
My wife was down there at around the same time as you, Arch, and she was number 97 out of about 1900 registered to vote there, so a similar proportion to yours.

Just got back myself, at 9:30 this evening I was voter number 162 out of 1900. As they'd only had 5 in the past hour, they didn't think they were going to make 170, a turnout of less than 9%.

Six, two indi, one con, one lab, one lib, one ukip.
I was about to say "By coincidence, our mix was the same!" but we're both Thames Valley so it's not that big a coincidence.

5 candidates. Lab, Lib Dem, Con, UKIP and English Democrat. Only really voted to keep the English Democrats out.

As has been mentioned, and people keep on referring to them. The parties are fielding/backing most of those actually standing. Given that once in the post they are supposed to be impartial why have the parties put them forward.

One I know standing complains that work as a councillor is taking too much time up. If elected, how are they going to fit the new job into their work schedule.

If the turnout is as low as is being given here, why can that not be accepted as a vote of No Confidence or taken as a NO vote. They'd have another four years before they could put someone forward again!

And no, I haven't voted. When those standing are too bl**dy lazy to get off their backsides & let those they are expecting to vote for them know why they feel they are better suited than the others for the posistion, why should I waste my time. Yes someone will get in. However if the inactivity before the election is anything to go by, what are they going to be like if they get the posistion?

I don't think there should be an election at all, so I didn't want to contribute to its legitimacy.
