And in other good news, Strauss seems to be front-runner for the new director of cricket position. Don't expect anything to change soon then!
Be interesting to see what happens - The new ECB geezer doesn't take up his position till the 15th - he is getting a lot of flack for his "team talk" - lots of talk about enquiries - Where do you get another coach from if you sack Moores - Coaching an England side through eight tests against NZ and the Aussies is not likely to enhance ones reputation much - Inserting Strauss in the intermediary position would seem to be just more of the same - and to be honest where are the quality players going to come from - apart from the obvious things of bringing Lythe in as opener (unproven) Plunkett as a third strike bowler (not proven that he can operate effectively at the highest level) they are more or less handcuffed to the same group of players - If you sack Cooke would he carry on playing test cricket - finding two openers would be a big ask - A captain an even bigger ask - Do you say to Root "take the job and if it all goes tits up don't worry about it" - KP into the side at 3 and as captain for a glorious farewell? - Apart from one knock against a University side he has hardly set the county scene on fire.

Lyth in for Trott, keep Cook, there are signs he's getting back to his best. Don't play stokes and Jordan in same side - too samey.
Give Kerplunket as go, he has genuine pace and agression or Jack Brooks.
