This is a strange game - is it a minefield?

It's not really Moeen's fault that they keep using him as 'the' spinner though. He got into the team as a batter and it's the paucity of alternatives and a skewed selection policy that force them to overuse him. They should use him as a second spinner option and pick Tredwell rather than rely on two part-time spinners who should really only be let loose on ODIs

Boycott's line:

"England had West Indies on the rack but they lost the plot. Moeen Ali - if he's the best in England, please write in quickly to the chairman of selectors if you're a spinner because that was a load of rubbish. And Joe Root was even worse. He's a part-time bowler but my daughter's hockey team could have walloped his long hops for six."

So, we need his rhubarb, his mother, and his daughter's hockey team and we are laughing.

Trouble is that is not so far off the truth

Yup - the choices to replace Swann were/are very limited - Tredwell would have been a safer choice with Moeen as a second spinner - despite not spinning it very much he does put the ball down in the right place consistantly

England 39-5 lead by 107

Definite craziness yesterday – Taylor bowled brilliantly to remove the England tail – Anderson ditto for the WI top order and their tail - the pitch is cracking up and almost turning square but the standard of spin bowling on both sides has been such that less than a handful of wickets have fallen to spin – Moen vs Root was a score draw – they took one wicket each and the score rattled on quite nicely while they were bowling.

England top/middle order seemed to have been mesmerised watching Anderson bowling and got it in their head that there was no hope – that’s not to say though that the Windies pace bowlers didn’t bowl well – Taylor and Holder swinging it all through the session

The question is what will happen today – no idea – you would think that if the ball keeps swinging England will be out by lunch – WI by close – one or the other ahead - If the ball stops swinging will the spinners on either side have the nous to take advantage of it? What sort of lead will England have – on the basis of yesterday – not a big one

Anderson to pull off another miracle for England? or Broad to find his mojo?

I think England will be 'safe' with a 200 run target for the Windies, and Anderson will get another Pfeiffer.
Well they have managed to pass 50 today  - and so far it doesnt appear to be swinging or spinning:wacko:

Was just going to post this from cricinfo and then Jordan was out. :headshake:

"Totally inept batting by England. Pitch, whilst having something to do with the wickets taken, is only one scenario here. Why charge the bowler, in this precarious situation? Totally inept, just like selection committee. Keeping KP out of this line up is, laughable, or tragic, depending on where your loyalties lie." I think we know where Bob is parking his chips

and now Broad's out first ball! FFS
