I really really want to like Guy Martin, the stuff he does is right up my street, but I just find him really irritating. I just cant put my finger on it as to why...

I see him as a 21st Century Fred Dibnah (bless him); huge interest in people, mechanics and lunacy, all delivered with passion and an endearing accent.

Dibnah was as you say had passion and enthusiasm, I personally found him obnoxious and a bit of a know it all, I always though he was rude when he used to listen experts and he just stood there , hmm, hmm , hmm with the odd nod of the head as if to say yea whatever I know all this you cant tell me anything...

(I've nowt against those from the north, honestly... :hello:)

When the bike record was mentioned before the commercial break, hands up, who else thought it might have been Laura Trott?

not really, there a bloke on Facebook trolling a bike group I'm in, claiming it should have been Chris Hoy and anyone else was a let down.

Track cycling, (comparatively) slow start building up the speed and long straights with sweeping curves.

BMX, explode out of the gate at full beans, pedal like a dafty from the word go on a track that could fit inside the middle of most velodromes but with so much more banking, turning, inch perfect positioning to stay upright. And Shanaze Reade is no slouch with a bloody good record on the track to back up all her BMX successes, the TV people got it spot on

True enough I guess, but, Trotty was the first person I thought of, when the presenter said "She"
