I have one: Hold his hand up and say in a forthright, commanding manner.
''I say, you there. Stop. I am a police officer and I have reason to believe you have been up to no good and may have contravened the law of the land. Please stop cycling and we can discuss this matter in a sensible and calm manner.''

Up to your usual standard of posting I see .
The only violence on show was the guy on the bike, who changed course to ride straight at the Officer. He was a robbery suspect with warrants outstanding; not a red light jumper FFS.. He is lucky he didn't get shot. A night stick through the front spokes might have been better though; less chance of injury to the cop, and a better chance of some well earned physical disability to the robbing scrote on the bike (wonder if that was stolen too?).

He certainly was prepared to, and if those holding him weren't able to keep him subdued I'd have no problem with him using it.
