Slightly off topic.
I use a sealant on my cars when I get them " new car " as that's the best time to apply it.
It helps with washing and no need to wax.
Sorry for the crude interruption, back to the arguing

Yes it does. Sand/silt dropped on it from the sky in the fens. Used to get coated with salt in Somerset. Do your house windows never need cleaning?

It’s a car ... it doesn’t matter ... clean screen and items as above . Good to go ...

Obvs tyres included in checks .

The underneath don’t get mucky stood still ...

Myself. It's not like I'm short of time, and by the time I've driven into civilisation, had the car cleaned, and driven back, it's taken me 3 times as long as doing it myself.
windows obviously need cleaned, but the rest of it ? How many people wash the walls of their house or the roof. It is just this wierd obsession that people have with these stupidly over developed means of transport, 'but its my pride and joy' . The whole thing with cars is just odd - how many people have electric windows in their house, heated seats, climate control, air con... its just odd the money most people are willing to spend on this silly status symbol. I'm more successful than you, cause my cars bigger! FFS - i think it has got to the stage now that has become the bigger the car the bigger the numpty
We have cases here where people lease a flash car like a Porsche and leave it outside the house even though they can't afford to drive the thing.

What I don't get is that here Porsches are pretty common so it isn't like they stand out...

Why would anyone assume that they're not? As has been evidenced many times in the various Brexit debates, EU citizens living and working in this country pay their fair share of taxes.
Because I have known a couple of them, along with window cleaners, builders & anyone else who has a cash rich, stock short enterprise, taxes are very rarely submitted correctly.

I can't believe people wash push bikes. Why would you want to have a nice clean bike? Its only going to get dirty again

Would you buy a car on a forecourt if it had never been cleaned?

Here for rides.
She could do it, but I enjoy it and the way we have divied up the responsibilities she does other things in that time that I don't need to try to squeeze into my crammed head :okay:
I've always found it entirely possible to check the tyre pressures/tread, test the lights, check the oil level, top up the screenwash, etc., without washing the car. I'd no idea the activities were linked. ;)

I know, but the two activities just seem to naturally coincide with her car. We are not obsessive about car washing so it is often 4 or 5 weeks between washes, which just fits in nicely with what I consider a reasonable frequency to do the discussed additional checks. My own car only gets washed once or twice a year so the checks are done without the benefits of a wash.

In between here and there
I find it really embarrassing for some reason done it once and never again sitting there while someone washes my car for a fiver looking like they are living rough feels me with middle class guilt so never done it again. My other farking huge gripe is a long the lines of @mjr I cycle past one and have to hold my breath duck, close my eyes in fear of getting the shoot all over me when they use the steam cleaner. Then in if they are not there and its sub zero the massive puddles of the stuff freezes over. Can I also say I bet the storm drains are not there to cope with the masses of chemical doused cleaner being literally swept in to them. Mostly its the guilt and laziness thing though, I would be the type of person to clean my house before the cleaner arrives, much like I leave a hotel room as close as possible to how I found it.

Bit of a mix.
Alfa - hand wash only. But rarely needs it as it's tucked up in the garage at moment away from that nasty rain and salty roads'
Wifes Renault Zoe. Gets taken to car wash when I've complained for a couple of weeks about the bird crap all over it.
When I had a works pickup - at dealer servicing. Not my car, and the dirt protects the paint doesn't it?

4-5 weeks? That sounds pretty obsessive! Unless you live in a field?!
