100 hours community service .

banned for 2 years.

About what I'd predicated.

Nothing has changed since my ban in 95.
I got 500 fine and 20mth for just over twice the limit.

I also ran a business and needed to drive But that's the bit that really hurt.
I lost something I needed.

Rooney will be laughing his head off..well untill the wife gets back from Holliday that is.

Here for rides.
there isn't sufficent provision in the guidlines for rich tw@ts that think the law doesn't apply to them sadly .
My distaste for wendyball, and thus wendyballers, is well documented in these parts, nonetheless given rich, the middling-sort and poor alike drink-drive should we really be tailoring the fines based on income, and in the case of the super-rich like this fool how much is really enough?

Unfortunately I'm not sure how big you could make the fine and it not be meaningless to the mega rich. taking peoples time away from them seems to be a bit more of a leveller.

Do what they do elsewhere and make it a percentage of their income... like the €650,000 fine handed out to one speeding driver in Switzerland.
Band F fines 700% of relevant weekly income . That's before deductions

If only they could be handed down for this event .

Rooney has not been fined.

He has been ordered to pay costs and victim surcharge, which in this case is standard flat fee of £85 each.

The district judge commented community work is a more appropriate punishment for someone in Rooney's position.

It is more appropriate. I just wish it was a number of hours that would really hurt and serve as a deterrent. The cynic in me thinks his community service will be holding football sessions for kids (which is laudable) whereas I'd rather he was scraping chewing gum off the pavements. As I thankfully have never been exposed to the community work system, I don't know how it is determined and allocated
