I tend to spend money on bike stuff that helps me actually ride it and not look at it! At the very least get yourself a turbo for those days when you can't GET OUT ON THE ROAD!

Not to put a downer on it but won't this be like a showroom for thieves?

I would echo the same, even if in the middle of no-where. Blinds to hide the bikes, also to reduce solar gain in summer !

I've even had attempted break-ins on my very secure garage, a conservatory is a piece of cake.

You don't need blinds or curtains; DIY places sell sticky vinyl that makes the glass look like acid etched glass. We have it on the garage windows and you can't see in but it lets light in.

Bikes in the house, oh I remember those days, before pesky children needed somewhere to sleep.

I have a garage now though, that's got a tube heater and dehumidifier. Keeps the bikes dry.

They would have to either climb over at least three six foot fences through neighbours gardens to get to the nearest exit in an area where top news is...three sheep near main road shocker lol. But I do appreciate the concerns and advice. We are going to block them from the sun somehow though so may prove to have twofold benefits.

My wife has just glanced over my shoulder while I've been reading this thread. Her laugh is still reverberating in my ears ... I believe I detect some doubts to whether my bike-porn (her words) activities might extend beyond using the kitchen as a workshop.

Okay so the bikes are currently living in the conservatory which also houses a knackered old sofa and some other bits and bobs. The bikes are currently leaning against each other . We don't really use the conservatory to sit in so I am taking the executive decision to get rid of the scabby old sofa and turn it into a bike room. Being a conservatory there is no where to hang the bikes so I was thinking of a floor based rack to stand them in. I am very excited about having a dedicated bike room. What else do I need?? :hyper:

The ultimate LAD cave!!! My self and the mrs are due to move soon (outskirts of Glasgow) the list is as fallows
1. Cycle friendly cafe
2. Masses of routes. 90% roads 10% trails
3. Massive garden (to build work shop if needed)
4. Dependant or 3. Big garage
5. Pool table, flat screen, beer fridge and coffee machine
6. Ask the mrs if there is anything to add to list?

Of course the work shop and racks will be the first thing to set up. got to have priorities set. Am I right or am I right

Yep, same here...we bought a new shed for bikes last year, now thinking of moving, my one ask is double garage..purely for bikes, cellar or man rooms on the land. This has been excepted (without to many arguments) and I await the looking and vito options of the bikes won't fit in there or it's not big enough for what I was thinking.
