I've been offered an 06 note 1.4 with 50k miles £1k

Vs my rusty 09 Octavia 2.0 TDI estate with 140k miles?🤔🤔🤔

I could get £500 for the Octavia. 9 month MOT..

Suspension is a bit knocking...

All I can say is apart from the width of the car(which is useful for parking) being narrow, the car is cavernous!
The back seats move forward/back as one to give a ridiculous amount of space for the rear passengers.
We've had the car(ours is a 1.4 manual I think SVE) about 3/4 years and nothing has gone wrong, servicing is cheap, economical.
Two things could be better, the door card material has come loose and need resticking, it also could do with a 6th gear but that could be the fact that I'm so used to a big diesel and revving the tits off a petrol makes me cringe.
Her indoors loves it!

Just check the underside suspension components for any nasty corrosion, otherwise these cars are pretty good. Un-inspiring, but very useful little cars. Had numerous long term Nissans in our house. If you go for it, I'd get a few tins of Buzzweld Lanolin underbody protector. It's clear. Just spray the front and rear suspension components and sub frames - e.g. all the 'black' metal parts as the paint isn't that thick. Will offer decent protection for not much money, and, being clear, won't 'hide' and corrosion if it develops - the black stuff, like waxoyl can hide corrosion under the coating !

Other things that can go wrong is they're prone to springs breaking, but not too expensive to fit. Also the wiring loom into the rear hatch can perish and cause problems for the electrics: lights, wiper motor, boot release button.

Two new front tyres fitted this morning as down to 4/5 mm and one of them had a screw on in the tread which was too close to the sidewall to repair.

The old ones had done just over 23k so not too bad .
