Yeah but he'd be Scottish again if he'd lost

It is true that if it was an Englishman vs a Scot in the final I would be supporting the Englishman but he is British and we should enjoy that whilst Scotland is still in Britain as if they leave we might be supporting the yank!

What Yank? Federer is bloody Swiss, Tsonga was French and the other guy was Croatian or somat.

Anyway, even if Murray was Irish I'd support him, why would it matter if he was technically from the UK or not?

Not me!

Don't care if he's Scottish, English or Mongolian: he's an arrogant prikk, IMO.

I'll be cheering for Rodge!

I agree...with the proviso that he actually seemed more relaxed today (the bits i was watching).
All the fist clenching, angry man grimacing, frowning and screwing his face up...winds me up. I can't stand watching him.

But watch him i did, mainly because it was on while i was at my dads. TBF, he was playing quite well and seemed different today.

Can he win the final...not IMO. He's always been, and probably always will be, the nearly man. Still, good luck to him.

If he developed a bit of humility and grace, then I'm sure his fan club would increase ten-fold.

I don't doubt his ability, but in the same way with Tiger Woods and his gestures and behaviour on a golf course, it leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't make for pleasant viewing.

I was talking to someone yesterday about the same kind of thing. I think almost all top level sportsmen/women need so much belief in themselves to keep the relentless motivation and competitiveness going that they are kind of arrogant with it. A lot are coached on their public image and interview techniques too. Sometimes id rather see the extreme competitiveness than the nicey nicey tv personalities tbh.

That's right, if you go for public image you end up with Eddie The Eagle, Frank Bruno and David Beckham. I'd much rather watch a class competitor who didn't give a fcuk what people thought of him.

A good day indeed. Murray and Federer in the final and Djokovic is out. I don't know why I dislike Djokovic so much but I do.

I don't follow tennis but they all look American to me! I only ever watch Wimbledon if a Brit is in the finals.

I support Murray because he's a Brit, not because I like or dislike him.
