Edited to add: it turns out that the photographer who took the photo of the polar bear (number 4) is indeed my friend Anna, and not another photographer of the same name!

you learn something new every day. Today I have learnt you can estimate the length of an aligator at night by measuring the distance between its eyes. This may come in handy one day.

Two absolutely outstanding ones for me are the black and white hare, and the Docklands gull. Perhaps its the geometry in both shots, but the hare is as evocative as it is stark, and the gull picture is just so indicative of how man made geometry can be turned inside out by the simplest of nature's forces.
